Purpose of Position

Reporting directly to the Chief Engineer, this position is concerned with the maintenance of hotel buildings, grounds and facilities. You will be responsible for consistently maintaining the general up-keep of the hotel including cleanliness of exterior, carparking and planted areas of the hotel, according to the required standards. 

Tasks include:

  • Replacing defective electrical appliances, fittings and fixtures
  • Troubleshooting in all aspects of Hotel & Apartments: Television, Telephone, Internet, Patch Panel, Escea Fires, Kitchen appliances, Laundry appliances, Furniture maintenance, Underfloor heating, Wall heating
  • Moving and re-setting furniture
  • Operating powered cleaning machines
  • Operating specialized machinery and hand tools
  • Resetting and maintenance of fuses/circuit breakers and servers
  • Maintaining up to date knowledge of all basic hotel facilities and services
  • Building Management System (BMS): Understanding and carrying out changes as required
  • Having knowledge of all technology systems in use
  • General maintenance: repairing walls, plumbing, remedial painting and silicone work
  • Repairing and maintaining metal, wood & glass structures within the hotel
  • Ensuring all required repairs and maintenance of hotel buildings, equipment and assets are carried out as scheduled or as requested by owners/guests/other departments or as directed by management
  • Undertaking preventative maintenance on hotel equipment and assets as per schedules
  • Sourcing and obtaining materials from suppliers

Skills, Experience and Attributes

  • Minimum 1 year previous hotel Maintenance experience
  • Full clean driving license essential 
  • Trade/Engineering qualification an advantage
  • Experience with powered and non-powered cleaning equipment 
  • Knowledge of appropriate and safe chemical handling highly regarded
  • Ability to multi-task in a busy hotel 
  • Be able to work autonomously with excellent time management skills
  • Superior verbal and written communication skills
  • Must be physically fit with a high standard of personal presentation
  • Available to work a variety of shifts including mornings, evenings until 7:00pm, weekends and public holidays
